For all you morning people out there who might have missed Shog's post[^] last night and don't pay attention to the Latest Threads box, there's a new version of CPhog[^] in town. :) We've done a lot of work on this release. Here are some of the features:

    • ForumWatch - Above every forum, right next to the QuickRefresh button, there's a little Plus sign. Click that, and watch the right hand sidebar for your new ForumWatch box. That'll give you quick, easy access to the latest threads from any forum, not just Subtle Bugs and Coding Horrors. Don't like it? Go ahead and click the Minus sign and you don't have to use it at all.
    • QuickBio - Ever wanted to see some details about the people you're talking to without loading up the entire profile page? Click on someone's name and you should see a little box show up with their details, a photo, and a link to their latest post. This should thrill all the Soapbox users...now you can see whether the Joergen Sigvardsson you're yelling at is actually our beloved Joergen...or just Kyle.
    • We moved away from about:config hacking and to the new GlobalStorage[^] area for storing preferences. This means your preferences should hopefully be less brittle than they were before
    • Minimal bootstrapper file. That cphog.user.js file that we make you download? That ugly red and green bar you see when CPhog tells you to update or die? You shouldn't need to see those again. We got actual userscript down to the most minimal bootstrap code we could so that we can deliver updates to you faster than before and without you having to do anything.
    • Slight speed improvements. We've been working on this a lot. Shog is stuck on a slow laptop, whereas my Core 2 Duo machine handles anything. So I don't care about performance, but Josh complains about it all the time. We started trying to make things a little faster this release and we'll definitely be improving it for the next one.

    Anyway. Enough reading.

Thanks for the repost David, I missed Shog's original thread; and thanks to both of you for all the hardwork and effort you two put into this, most excellent, GM script. :-D

Well, it's as cool as I remember it, but the bar on the right, while it may make sense, sure feels odd...

Christian Graus - Microsoft MVP - C++ "I am working on a project that will convert a FORTRAN code to corresponding C++ code.I am not aware of FORTRAN syntax" ( spotted in the C++/CLI forum )

Ok, so whats the deal with the post editor changes? Spell check is intermittent at best, the scrollbar on the right of the edit text box is half the hight of the text box window (and the active, visible area is the same height as the scroll bar, causing text to often disappear (like when convering a URL to a link - the expanded text can go below the scrolling region, causing the part that would normally be selected to hide below the visible region).Hopefully these are just bugs that are soon to disappear.

We need to graduate from the ridiculous notion that greed is some kind of elixir for capitalism - it's the downfall of capitalism. Self-interest, maybe, but self-interest run amok does not serve anyone. The core value of conscious capitalism is enlightened self-interest. Patricia Aburdene

I'm betting it's a bug in our code that makes the iframe grow and shrink as needed. That code's always been just a little brittle. (Shog wrote it...not me. ;))

Might want to look at any changes in that area, I never saw it before this update.

Heh. Don't worry, once I get done setting up our new subversion/trac server, I'll get that entered in the bug database and we'll be good.
