Andrea Berg, that is. Today I just received the 10 CDs: Splitternackt, Du bist frei, Gefühle, Machtlos, Nah am Feuer, Träume lügen nicht, Weil ich verliebt bin, Wo liegt das Paradies, Zwischen tausend Gefühlen and The best of Andrea Berg. Great music, I just can't stop listening to her. By the way, I'm having a great experience with german music (Yvonne Catterfeld, Die Firma, Tanzwut, Freundeskreis and yes, even Sportfreunde Stiller with "'54 '74 '90 2006", and of course classics such as Rammstein, Scorpions and Tangerine Dream). Any other recommendations?

Helloween - late 80s speed metal group Amon Duul II - early 70s mad psychedelic prog rock - my favourite of theirs is Tanz Der Lemminge. Einstürzende Neubauten - so many flavours of music - from Kango hammers and electric drills in their early stuff to acoustic and orchestral backing in their later work - I was going to see them live in April, but they had to cancel:(. You may be more familiar with their frontman, Blixa Bargeld, as a member of Nick Cave's Bad Seeds. Favourite album? Ummm - I love the compilation of their early work Strategies Against Architecture 80-83, the first album of theirs I heard, Fünf Auf der Nach Oben Offenen Richterskala, and also Haus der Lüge. Kraftwerk - I have a soft spot for their Autobahn-era output

Helloween were power metal, not speed metal. Also, Gamma Ray is an off shoot of Helloween.

AFAIK that's an industrial product of a recording company. Nobody wanted to listens to hear boring music, so the record company made a deal with a movie company: They gave her a role in a very popular soap opera! Soon she was a movie star and all teenage girls bought her songs.

Can.  Just be careful which album you start with, some are harder to get into than others.

Bad taste music? Let's hope that she leaves Germany, now that she found fans in other parts of the world...

AFAIK that's an industrial product of a recording company. Nobody wanted to listens to hear boring music, so the record company made a deal with a movie company: They gave her a role in a very popular soap opera! Soon she was a movie star and all teenage girls bought her songs.

I like that song, especially the don't-give-up-version from fall 2006. They changed the text to "'54, '74, '90, 2010". :-D

I know you don't like death metal at all: but the list of German metal bands won't be complete without necrophagist (technical death metal)

All the label says is that this stuff contains chemicals "... known to the State of California to cause cancer in rats and low-income test subjects."

They claim to be. At least they live in Germany (but the drummer is American and the guitarist is Russian).

I think they are Finish but not sure... There is also Blind Guardian. Their last album rocks.
