We're using InstallAware Studio[^]. We met one of the their founders at the ESWC last year and decided to take a look as we were looking for a new installation package (they waved two free licences for InstallAware Express under our noses so we'd have been mad not too). I have to say I was very impressed. I had a functional installer for our product in under an hour, with no obvious rough edges. Save for the addition of a splash screen and some minor mods for Vista it's hardly changed since. :)

Yea, I was looking over their website earlier. How well does it handle getting the current version of .NET and calling the regasm.dll?

I inherited it from a previous developer and was a little apprehensive having used InstallShield in the past. It has turned out to be simple and reliable. There is a Eclipse plugin available that makes editing the scripts nice.

just finished a new installer with options for multiple customers, added docs and help, etc. We've been running NSIS since 2.00

I use WiX 2.0 (upgrading to 3.0 as we speak) as it ties in nicely with our continous integration and gives me full control over every aspect of the install. Downside is there is a definite learning curve here but once competency is reached a great deal of satisfaction results.

me too! Advanced Installer is 1/4 the price of InstallShield and Wise, is easy to use, and pretty powerful. We haven't regretted the decision to buy it. - Sean

I've used NSIS for years. But with .Net now I usually do a Studio setup project for the install, and NSIS for patches. I've always liked NSIS. From the makers of WinAmp and AssIO!

I was just going to ask about WIX. I know Microsoft uses it for some of their biggest products (MS Office stands out in my mind), but I haven't heard any actual reviews or opinions on it. Good to know that although there is a steep learning curve, it is very useful once the learning is done. Being free doesn't hurt either :)

Setup Factory v6.0 I am completelly satisfied with it for VB6, worked perfect on all projects, now looking for something for VB.NET, new Setup Factory is very expensive. Do all of the abovementioned work with .NET?
