I always think it would have been better if computers were not made user friendly, but were in fact user hostile. In the old days (circa 1980 or so) my school had a Research Machines 380Z and even to get your hands on it was a major victory. Monochrome, no sound, twin floppy and came on a cart because it was so big and heavy. I loved it. The joys of a black screen with a little green C:> You were the man, the high priest. If you told people you were "into" computers you had kudos and standing. You would actually wander around holding floppies to indicate your power! Then Bill Gates made computers accessable to idiots and the trouble started! Lets back grade to C:> Let us take back the technology and burn effigies of Bill Gates this Guy Fawkes Night! (for non UK members it is a celebration of the Prevention of Parliament getting blown up! irony I suppose).

Ahh, I new I'd catch one of you IT priest types in here eventually. No, no, no, your approach is the inverse of what we need, although there are a substantial faction of tech people out there who agree with you. I'm not going to get into this in the Lounge but you're wrong, wrong wrong and I hope you were only joking.

I think it will fail due to the nature of stupidity. The infinities involved are simly too numerous and too complex, surreal numbers will be required and advanced math that may not even be computable. Even if they crack it the nature of stupidity will out pace them, it will infect the stupidity filter itself and soon will have stupidy which is more stupid than all the stupidity previously perpetrated including itself. In the end they will loose as no computer however stupid will ever be able to out stupid those who built and programmed it. Einstien was right on this one at least "There is no limit to human stupidity."

Someone should keep you busy writing an email client in Malbolge[^] for the next few hundred years. The rest of the world can get on with making life easier and software development a broader, easier and better understood art form in the meanwhile.;P

Yes, but using a ZX spectrum to compile it! You can't see the smirk or the tongue in cheek, but I do wish idiots could be compelled to cut their fingers off to stop them pushing buttons that don't need pushing!

I prefer to think of it as celebrating an attempt to blow up Parliment...

Those would be Deliberate. Put in for the comedic value, not because that is how we naturally choose to communicate. I feel that textspeak is one step up from clicks and grunts. The renaissance happened, why are we doing it again, backwards?
