I have found a fantastic album in MP3 on our server, but I only know the label, i.e. publisher, and track lengths.  I figure there might be a database somewhere that I can search for a CD with ten tracks, with the same lengths, from the same label.  Is there?

If such a database should not exist, you could always try to lookup a fingerprint for the songs using Musicbrainz's PUID lookup. You'd need to install the Musicbrainz Picard[^] software, and do a PUID lookup. If you're lucky, it will automatically recognize the songs, or at least offer some alternatives in case of PUID collision.

Check out MusicBrainz [^]- it has some sort of fingerprinting system to identify tracks.

maybe you could post a link here to one of the tracks (or part thereof) and see if any of us can identify it for you... could be fun to try, if nothing else...

You could zoning in the chorus of each song and try googling that to see what comes back.

This will probably work. import the songs to iTunes, burn the songs to an audio CD then take the CD out and put it back in w/ iTunes running. iTunes will hit the CDDB database and find a match!

Side Note: The tracks will have to be in the correct order they were originally on the album to work w/ CDDB (Gracenote)

There are no lyrics in psy-trance; the music talks directly to your conciousness.  The only vocals are trippy samples of dialogue from classic sci-fi and horror movies.

What if it's a legal download from sites like http://www.beatport.com[^] or http://www.juno.co.uk[^] ? the fact that the file names and ID3 tags are not complete does not imply that the mp3 files are illegally downloaded. from what I've read from you, I think you're a moron.
