Hi I was wondering what the best WPF book would be to buy cause I want to start learning WPF. I have been reading the articles on CP and some of them a really good but advanced. Are there any books out there that will give me a basic knowledge of WPF that can then get me started? Thanks Jeff

There are two really good WPF books: O'Reilly's Programming WPF[^] or Sam's WPF Unleashed[^] EDIT: Fixed second link
"When you have made evil the means of survival, do not expect men to remain good. Do not expect them to stay moral and lose their lives for the purpose of becoming the fodder of the immoral. Do not expect them to produce, when production is punished and looting rewarded. Do not ask, `Who is destroying the world?' You are."

-Atlas Shrugged, Ayn RandI'll second this as both are excellent. Just make sure you don't get the Petzold one - it's sooooo bad. I started on the Unleashed book and it's a really good choice, but you can't go wrong with a Chris Sells book either.

Why do you say that? I'm busy on the Petzold book, and while it's presentation is dismal, I find it's content quite good.

I find that Petzold's books are plodding and dull. They don't hold the attention in the same way that the other books to, and I speak as somebody who cut his Windows coding teeth on the classic Petzold books.

Adam Nathan's, Windows Presentation Foundation Unleashed (has color pictures, great for seeing code and the output) Matthew MacDonald's Pro WPF (after you get going, get this book, it is outstanding)

Thanks, looks like the consensus is Adam Nathan's, Windows Presentation Foundation Unleashed. Thanks a lot, will go buy it this weekend.
You won't regret it. It's got lots of pretty pictures - which is really useful with WPF.
