The monitor recommended[^] by Christian supports "only" HDMI and DSUB. (I want to go for the 22" version, though) My graphics card is dual DVI - can I hook it up with an DVI/HDMI adapter cable like this[^]? Prices vary from €3 to €100 - with the "technical reasons" I can find being the same as for bullshitting audiophiles into buying directed cables 8for AC signal, no less), but I wonder if there's something of matter that I could do wrong.

DVI-D is electrically and protocol-wise compatible with HDMI. A simple adapter will work, even with HD-material (BluRay etc.)

If you buy a 22" without a DVI adapter, I would be worried. :|

      Any particular reason? Cheers, Drew.

:-D This is one is quite funny! Luckily I'm not at the office - I clicked the link. That wouldn't be really funny. :-D

I expect the HDMI input to work as well, wanting HDMI+DVI seriously restricts choice, and I hope that life is better with HDMI in the long run :)

In particular most cables used to be single link, but the large (Apple) monitor needed dual. Not really an isuue now as all cables i see are dual.

Yes, used them a lot. There is a slight difference in sync timing if your graphics card supports DVI and HDMI modes separately but it doesn't make a difference in practice. The cheap ones are every bit as good by the way (we have used 10 metre cheapos without problems) - I got into shops just to shake my head at people falling for the sales talk. Elaine :Rose:

It's just another case where people don't understand how it works, so the salesman (who doesn't either, so can't even feel guilty) spews a load of jargon at them... > DUMMY MODE ON < ...and they assume that there's a perfectly reasonable explanation why the cable is more expensive, more expensive = better, and therefore they should buy the more expensive cable. The 'perfectly reasonable explanation' is that the manufacturers and stores are grasping bar stewards.
