GTA4 is also available for the 360. It even looks better in that version. But hey! What we're really looking forward to is Starcraft 2, isn't it?

I think I'm going to splash out next month and get a gaming console.  My prime candidate is an XBox 360.  Anyone think I should look elsewhere?

I'd get the PS3. Blu-Ray drive helps. As someone mentioned though if a console has an exclusive that you want then you'll have to weigh that into the decision.

It is starting to look most attractive as a media device as well as a console.

I've had a PS3, XBox and a Wii...Wii is a great family gaming console (my 3 year old grandaughter beat the snot out of me in boxing when I first played...ouch!). We have friends over occasionaly, drink a few drinks and play Wii...great times (except that means I can't play EQ2).

The PlayStation 3 can make a lot of sense depending on what you're looking for. It is one of the best Blu-Ray players on the market -- current firmware supports BD-Live (BD Profile 2.0); Metal Gear Solid 4 is out and is a fantastic game; online gameplay is free (though not as good as Xbox Live yet); PlayStation Network has some excellent downloadable games (Super Stardust HD is awesome!); DVD upscaling is excellent; internal hard drive is easily upgradeable since it uses 2.5" SATA notebooks drives -- I've updated mine to 160 gb; you can install Linux on it; support for a number of video and audio codecs such as DivX and AAC; backwards compatible with PlayStation 1 and PlayStation 2 games (PS2 compatibility only with 20, 60 and 80 gb models); and support for DNLC media servers. I own one and just picked up MGS4 last night. Excellent game. I also play FIFA 08 online with one of my co-workers. Beyond that, I have a number of games and Blu-Ray movies for it. I wouldn't trade the system for the world. :-\ Flynn

I just rented RAMBO this weekend. There was a menu entry Molog, which downloaded some applet (java?) to the PS3. It looked like you can script some kind of story with images, animation and sound. Don't understand it really, but it impressed me that someone is starting to employ the BluRay 2.0 features.

I have a few gaming systems around the house, heh. The PS3 is easily my favorite. I also have the PlayStation Portable, the Nintendo DS, the PlayStation 2 and original PlayStation, the Nintendo 64 / SNES / NES, just about every model of GameBoy (except the VirtualBoy), and even two of the original Atari 2600 systems. All are in working condition and each has several games. I currently buy games for the PS3, PSP and DS the most, but I also pick up the occasional PS2 game. :) Flynn
