OK my rule has unfortunately held up. Here's the rule: Any magnitude 7 earthquake (or greater) will be followed by another 7+ somewhere else in the world within another 2 weeks. There was a mag 7 earthquake in Vanuatu a couple of days ago. It's now been downgraded to a 6.9, but close enough for my tastes. Now there's just been another 6.9 in Japan 6.9 in Japan[^]

I am convinced that lobotomising users will make little to no difference.

Unfortunately not - but there's often 5+ at where the next big one will be just after the initial 7+, for areas that are fairly shaky already. I'd be interested if anyone else has any ideas though - I'm living in a very high earthquake zone, any clues / gut feelings / rules (like mine) appreciated.

Well, if that rule is valid, it requires that there by a 7+ earthquake somewhere in the world at least every two weeks. Since that is not happening, I can safely say that your rule is bunk.

Yeah I knew someone wouldn't read it straight. So it goes like this: 1. Big earthquake somewhere in the world (7+) - out of the blue (or mini black hole) 2. Within 2 weeks another 7+ earthquake somewhere else on the planet. 3. Finish rule. So far my rule seems to work. But it's only since I've moved here to the Solomon's that I've really had to deal with it personally. Also, in a big earthquake I would definitely not feel safe in a bunk.
