I'd have assumed that without even checking. The US would be significant, just because. India would be biggest for obvious reasons - the forums are full of indians who take work they can't do, and use CP to get it done.

Well, that etc covers a multitude of sins doesn't it? I would say that 100% of codeproject users are of India, United States, China, etc.

I know Graus is getting some comments about this. There are some great Indians on this board who do an awesome job. However, when the majority of "bad" questions and rejected articles are from people in India, or have Indian sounding names it's easy to make sweeping generalizations. We see this when talking about Islam in the SoapBox (and that's ALL I will say about that in the Longe). As an unemployed software engineer and interviewed with a company who didn't hire me and said they farm code to India, it makes me more cynical about the situation.

This was the one I applied for a couple months back what was several hours away. I would have eventually had to move. I got good vibes and a no go at the end. Even the recruiter did not know why. Still waiting on the three from the last two weeks. I expect to hear about two this week; the third said they take a long time.

Yes, I knew I was stirring the pot, but I would hope it's clear that I am not saying 'all Indians suck'. It has nothing to do with race, it has everythign to do with the West throwing money at India expecting magic software solutions for close to nothing ( in Western terms ). Indians are taking work they can't do, because there's money in it. The fault is with the West. The net result is people who can't code, trying to get us to do the work, they just happen to be Indian because that's where the outsourcing is going on. In time, the dross will be cut away, and the good Indian devs will make real money, and the CP membership will be 24% from Indonesia or something ( or Russia perhaps ) ?

Yeah, that sucks. I am fortunate to have work, and so my cynicism doesn't have as much bite as it would if I couldn't find work, but, I have to say that in my experience, the people who are farming code to India, deserve the bad results they invariably get.

Amusingly, I regularly receive emails telling me that we can outsource our development work to Indian companies. Hello people. We're a frickin dev company ourselves. It would be like delivering a wedgy to myself.

Surely you could send some hired goons round to yourself to administer a wedgy, then you could have the satisfaction of not exporting the wedgy technical details to those incapable of administering such things!

Ah - so we would still own the wedgy IPR. Interesting.

Amusingly, I regularly receive emails telling me that we can outsource our development work to Indian companies. Hello people. We're a frickin dev company ourselves. It would be like delivering a wedgy to myself.

I'd love to see that. We toyed with the idea of outsourcing when I was flat out with work 24/7 last year. I thought that it would make sense to pay someone to do the more straightforward work, and I could work between projects doing the complex stuff. It was a disaster. I mention this b/c it's the only reason I can think why you'd do some outsourcing.

But they might botch an atomic wedgy. (Is it weird that I am a girl and know what that is?)

It would allow you to implement wedgies, whilst working on wedgie 2009, and offer the upgrade at a reduced rate. But make sure the EULA is pretty firm, you don't want others nicking your wedgies and marketing them as their own! :)
