    I have a PM who is starting to do this on the side. He's got into the hardware as a hobby and gone from there, last week he did his first wedding and I think he found it a challenge. Having said that his real passion is photoshopping to get some really dramatic end results. He's been at it for 2 years!

    Some other people are actually selling their photo to make ends meet.

      I used to be a wedding photog while in college for CS. I got out of it because it was just draining; school, work, plus that. If you are just starting you aren't going to make a lot of money; you have to invest in a lot of equipment plus you need to build a portfolio which means doing some stuff at cost or even lose money to get a good start. After a couple years I was in high demand; I often did Friday and Saturday weddings back to back. It was good money at that point, but I had no life from May to September, so now I only take pics for myself!
