Oh boo-hoo. Cry me a river, Boney. There was compromise plenty of tax cuts in the stimulus. The R's offered nothing but opposition, they aren't interested in helping the economy they are listening to their new leader, Rush, who 'wants Obama to fail'.

So are you saying that it was a good thing that the Republicans did this, or that it was a bad thing, but it still justifies the Democrats outspending them 2:1?

Yeah, and? Given a choice of believing Greg saying what Obama is going to do and Obama saying what Obama is going to do - I guess I'll go with the person who is actually knows - in this case that would be Obama.
Oakman wrote:

On the first two, I don't think it was good thing for the R's to try it - as far as I know the only place they did it was in Texas - pretty inconsequential. And, of course, there is no actual indication that the Dems are trying to steal the census - just the ranting of the lunatic fringe. I can't really see why you think that my statement that taxing and spending is more fiscally conservative than borrowing and spending would suggest that I think that borrowing and spending is a good thing all the time.

and this was a very bad thing, absolutely.
Oakman wrote:

What justifies a large stimulus package is accepting the economic theory that government deficit spending in a recession will stimulate the economy and help soften the recession. Perhaps 800 billion is too much, more likely not enough. I'm not sure where you get the 2:1 ratio from, the Demint plan - which most R's supported - a grab bag of permanent tax cuts for the rich and businesses, would cost about 3.1 trillion over 10 years.

Typical moronic drivel. But I've learned to expect nothing more from you. Sure I could be just like you, and Mike, and Stan, and Rob and Bone and parrot right-wing talking points ad infinitum, ad nauseum. But what would be the fun in that? Silly question, I know. Yes. I agree. I summed up your position perfectly. It's too bad, though. You sometimes show signs of a real mind with a better than average IQ - but the minute you start discussing politics you seem to lose any ability to think for yourself and sound like Nancy Pelosi instead.
