Those of us in Melbourne, Australia have just had an interesting time about an hour ago, with an earthquake measured at 4.7 passing through. Given it's the first one I've felt, it was really weird! The USGS has the details on it's website here.[^]

We had one of similar magnitude, here in the South-East UK last year. Happened in the early hours of the morning, woke me up. Trouble was I didn't know why I had woken, except that something was strange. Wasn't till I heard the news later that I realised what had happened.

That would have been weird this time around... although I wonder if I would have woken up, since I've been known to sleep through some really loug thunderstorms!

Me too. I'm a Narcoleptic Insomniac. Have one hell of a job getting to sleep, but once asleep 'normal' events won't wake me. I can only assume that it was the strangeness of an earthquake (the noise - some of it at below normal frequencies, the shaking), that woke me.
