It was a clear enough statement, you can reread it if you like. I didn't think it was a greatly controversial observation but there were those who took exception.

If you don't see the difference between having minimal expertise and dismissing a hypothesis with no evidence and no particular reason other than you feel like it (e.g. you) and having a great deal of expertise and dismissing a hypothesis while offering a different, ostensibly equally plausible explanation (e.g. the paleontologists in this article) then perhaps you should re-evaluate the regard that you claim to have for scientific reasoning.
