For Windows CE based hand helds, like the Pocket PC, you can download the Embedded Visual Tools 3 (EVB & EVC) for free from the Microsoft site. This is a independent Studio product. Visual Studio.Net is NOT needed. Additionally, you may need to download SDKs for the devices, which plug into EVC/EVB. The Pocket PC SDK is included in the Embedded Visual Tools package, but you need to download the Pocket PC 2002 SDK. Many device manufacturers, like Symbol, also provide their own SDKs. You'll have to repeat the question on another site for Palm development... VictorV

        For Palm OS, use Codewarrior.

Don't forget that if you want to use .NET with Pocket PCs you can use the .NET Compact Framework, you'll need to get the Smart Device Extensions (SDE) for Visual Studio.NET that include all the various projects etc. Alternatively, you can wait for Visual Studio .NET 2003 (currently in beta - Everett), this includes the various projects for Pocket PC's. This is currently planned for release around the same time as Windows .NET Server. I've never used Embedded VC++, but using Visual Studio .NET was incredibly simple -- let alone infinite monkeys, you can get away with a handfull :-D -- Paul "I need the secure packaging of Jockeys.
