I'm finding myself coming in to the office really early or leaving really late, and working over the weekends. I like the person I work with but somehow I never get anything done unless it is just me, the hiss of the aircon and my pc. I know this is a bad thing. One needs to work with others all the time. Any advice? well hell doesn't want you and heaven is full. Tom Waits

Yes!!! I was very lucky in my last job. I had my own office with a window. One time they tried to put me in an office with a technical writer. He jabbered on the phone all day. It drove me crazy! I would be trying to read something in MSDN. I kept reading the same sentence over and over, unable to concentrate. I complained to my boss and he let me work from home. Then they gave me my office back. I'm job hunting now and I'm scared. I know most of us have to share an office and I don't know if I can do it. I find music just as distracting. I can't have the TV going in the background either. Maybe I could try classical or something with no words. Cathy Life's uncertain, have dessert first!

Have you thought about doing contracting work? That is what I want to do as soon as I have more working experience. The agent,I spoke to, at a contracting firm told me they have a programmer working for them who refuse to get a cell-phone and only have an answering machine and I thought "Yes!" well hell doesn't want you and heaven is full. Yes. Unfortunately I've heard that contractors are faring the worst in this job market. Most of the contractors I know took full time jobs when the economy started going bad. Cathy Life's uncertain, have dessert first!
