DJ Hero--not too shabby!

So Hubby and I used to enjoy the Guitar Hero, and Rock Band video games, but we made fun of the new DJ Hero game when we first saw info about it. Anytime we talked about it we followed it up with a comical "SCRIT SCRIT SCRIT!" sound. Hubby obtained a trial version of DJ Hero via eBay a few days ago (he found it selling cheaper than what it sells for and planned to resell it for a profit as soon as possible) and once it arrived we decided to try it out. We have a number of gaming systems, but this one was Xbox 360, but I think the "turntable" is the same for all systems. I have to admit it was pretty fun. The trial version only came with 3 mixes so you may become annoyed after an hour or so. I know guitar and hated Guitar Hero because of the simplicity. I have DJ'd before at a radio station, but never mixed like you do with DJ Hero. You use your right hand to hit three-colored buttons, kind of like Guitar Hero, but you also may have to "scratch" meaning turn the turntable record. When it's only 1 or 2 beats, it's harder to start/stop exactly. Your left-hand has to master the cross-fader (actually more difficult than I expected), euphoria, and stream buttons. All in all, pretty fun! I'm torn between selling the system or waiting for the game itself with more mixes. Oh yeah, Grand Master Flash does the voice-over for the tutorial. GMF! Yeah, the music industry sold out awhile ago. One of my new jokes: "I know the music industry sold old. I used to hear a song on the radio and try to remember the MTV video. Now I try to remember my Guitar Hero high score."

Haven't tried any of the Rock Band, Guitar Hero, etc. games yet. I have a hard enough time with Beats and Patapon on my PSP. Must be rhythmically challenged (or fiscally challenged -- those games get spendy). I do enjoy singing and can score respectably on most SingStar songs that I play. I don't listen to the replays though. I have decent pitch, but I don't always like the sound of my voice -- too nasally sometimes. I'm getting better though. I was considering getting the standalone version of Rock Band - The Beatles, though. It's sold with a pair of SingStar mics in England, so I know it works with them. Once that drops to around $30, I may pick it up for a little singing fun. :) Flynn
