Indeed! Connery was the best. He was 'Dangerous' like the others weren't.

DD, if you look at his profile, he's an Indian. And, by English, I assume, he means the English language (American/British doesn't matter). Most of the Indians don't differentiate between them.

That's easy. The Importance Of Being Earnest (the 1952 version with Michael Redgrave, Michael Denison and the truly wonderful Edith Evans as Lady Bracknell).

You know, somehow I get the feeling that he did mean "Language" when he said "English". He's from India. We have movies releasing in a dozen languages every week and Very few people can actually tell the difference between an American and an English movie.

At the risk of sending Dave off the deep-end my vote goes for Local Hero (Scottish director, most of the cast, location). For purely English I'd say Heavens Above, The Ladykillers (original NOT the Tom Hanks travesty), Lawrence of Arabia or The Life of Brian. Andy B

A walk to remember is an excellent movie. Now, picking ONE favourite to rule them all isn't difficult to me, it is bloody impossible. But one of my favourites, in line with what seems to be the collective taste in here, is The Shawshank Redemption. Also Tim Robbins best movie evvah. //L [EDIT] Overlloked the "english" bit in the original query. My answer still stands, though, with the addition of "The Match"[^] from 1999 as Honourable Mention :) [/EDIT]
