Coming back...

I've been gone a while (almost 8 months I think) working on a book. Now that it's finished (mostly waiting for the publisher to do their edits) I should be back on CP more regularly. Anything exciting that I've missed?

AspDotNetDev posted the 999,999th Lounge post, Clippy made an appearance, Bob moved to the Lounge, and Quick Answers has already gained a strong following of abusers who can't seem to formulate full questions. All is well in CP land.

I like that the product page for your book describes you as follows:
He speaks extensively, including at Microsoft TechEd, and contributes regularly to The Code Project.

Have you noticed that despite being called "Teach Yourself Visual C# 2010 in 24 Hours", it comes with "Visual C# 2008 Express Edition". Kinda makes me laugh.

Haha, good catch. The Amazon page says:
The accompanying DVD contains Visual C# 2010 Express Edition, and the companion Web site contains all the code and exercises from the book.
The companion DVD contains Visual C# 2008 Express Edition - everything you need to get started programming in C#
Maybe it will actually come with both, given that it won't be released until later this year (presumably after Visual Studio 2010 is released). However, I suspect the 2008 is a typo.

Yea, just waiting for the publisher to update the site and get that corrected.

Before I started writing the book, I was on here all the time so when I started I was contributing regularly. Now that the book is done, I'll be back on regular basis again.

Glad to hear you'll be contributing regularly again. I actually just found it neat that you credited your work on Code Project in a professional work. Perhaps I should add my articles to my resume. Actually, I already have links to (one of) my articles on my portfolio website, and a mention of my portfolio website on my resume, but no direct reference to Code Project on my resume. Perhaps I'll make mention of CP in my resume if I make MVP. Regardless, I'm glad to see CP being used as a professional reference... makes me want to contribute more to it.

I can't ever imaging actually writing a full book. It takes me long enough to write an article. Well done on that front, hope it does well.

Thanks. CP was/is a huge reason for getting me to where I am today. It was my articles on CP that first gained attention for the Microsoft MVP program. That combined with my blog lead to doing presentations in the community, which eventually lead to my MVP award but also to writing the book. So, in an indirect way without CP I wouldn't have been in a position to write the book at all.

Thanks! I hope it does well also. :) I never thought I would write a book and knew going in to it that it would be difficult but I never imagined just how difficult it was going to be. The family is very happy to have this in the final stages so I can start spending more time with them.
