My wife's PC started crapping out to the point where I decided to slick it, freezing on boot It kept dying during the file copy phase of XP install. I have seen this before when ram went bad. I swapped out ram, and it died same place. Then the OS hard drive (thank God) got crapped up and windows install spent 3 hours checking it. I went to the back up HD, and it is dying at the same place (file copy in install). I got a new MB, CPU and RAM, and it is still dying at the same place. I tried a different copy of XP, still dying in the same place. ------------- So, should I buy penny stocks? ------------- Sorry, wrong thread. The only thing left is Power Supply and Monitor. I am going to try it on my PC's PS, and see how it works. Does anyone have any ideas about what could be causing this? If so, please let me know. Thanks in advance RM

I have seen this several times - the installer loses the connection to the cd/dvd for no apparent reason. My solution has been to boot a live CD OS, Format the target System HD, copy the MS installation files to a subdirectory, and install from there. Hope it helps.
