Funny accident this morning.

This morning it was miserable weather and I have to pass some crowded roads to go to work. (and you know how people drive if there is only a drop of rain). So driving on the R0 (ring around Brussels) in Wemmel I had to brake pretty hard and I started thinking like uh oh, this is one of those stops where someone behind you will not react on time, so as a reflex I looked in my rearview mirror, see the car coming and sure enough: bang! (I'll leave out the curses and swears I uttered at the time) So I step out to assess the damage (so does the other guy). Nothing, A little valve was hanging loose, clicked it in again and done, no viewable scratches, no dents, no wounded people, nothing. So we laughed, shook hands and drove on. It took maybe 10 seconds all in all. It was somewhat a weird experience. There are some times that we can call ourselves very lucky... :-D

I got taught, anytime you intend to put your foot on the break, check in the mirror first, make sure nobody is going to plough into you.
Way I was taught was that if it's an emergency you shouldn't waste time looking, just get on with slowing down. Otherwise you will have to brake harder to avoid the guy in front making it even less likely that the guy behind will have time to stop.

I hate when someone tailgating me on the highway, so I’ve invented a simple cure for this idiots. I start hitting the brake every couple of seconds – not too hard but enough to stretch his nerves. I drive a sport sedan so I have enough acceleration to avoid the rear-ending in case he reacts too slowly. After a few seconds the as***es either start keeping reasonable distance or change the lane.
The narrow specialist in the broad sense of the word is a complete idiot in the narrow sense of the word. Advertise here – minimum three posts per day are guaranteed.

In front of my school this morning was a similar incident, it was an SUV in front and a sedan behind. The sedan had quite a bit of damage to the front, while the SUV had no visible damage though. If only the sedan owner was as lucky as you.
