Why does an update to adobe reader need to reboot my computer? Why does corporate IT force this garbage on me?

I agree... Went through that today.. constant instant 'want to reboot now?' after the 'push'. UGH...

probably because one or more of the support dlls were in use at the time so the update to the file could not be completed and if you tried to use the new reader it would not work...

No, I think a more likely reason is that they are too lazy to actually check for anything like that. It's easier just to assume you need a reboot, and nag you by default.

Because it was secretly reading something behind your back while you were busy updating?

Not only do they nag you about upgrading, but also about restarting. Couldn't they just do it all silently when I am away from my computer or when I turn it off? Microsoft does this when I shut down my computer. Why can't Adobe. So much for such a simple applicaton.
