Ok, so there was no clapping, I assume (Haven't seen the video yet), but they DID stand up... Right before walking out during his speech. The ambassadors' way of saying "Bite our shiny metal asses." See, I like things like that. We have a lot of different perspectives in this forum... Got the pragmatists, the religious folks, liberals, conservatives, libertarians, and of course the resident nutjob... Actually, there was a standing ovation at the end of the speech, long after the walkout, with much clapping. Interestingly, Australia decided not to walk with the US and others. Wonder what's behind that.

I kinda like Maureen Dowd's take on his name - 'I'm a dinner jacket'. :-D

They've grown up, and realized the childishness of this repeated charade?

If they wanted to insult him so badly all they had to do was either throw a shoe at him or show him the bottom of their shoes. Then again...just kidding. ;P You would think that we'd(international community) be used to his inane prattle by now that is about as grounded in reality as the good captain's thoughts here are. Both are flaming bigots filled with racism and denial of history.

Weird. We're starting to act as if we're a country and not a fiefdom ? Not that I agree with not walking out especially, but my impression has been that we do whatever the US tells us to do.

He was not invited, Iran is a signatory to the treaty, and he was there as Iran's representative. The 'walkers' have walked out on Ahmandinejad in April and September 2009. Why bother to attend his speech merely to walk out yet again? Theatrics, whose impact lessens with each repetition.
