Well i understand Dalek Dave is looking for programmers who have exactly your sort of qualifications - he is of course very shy and doesn't like promoting this do drop him some emails with your CV etc - i'm sure he will be very interested to help you out, if he doesnt get back to you then just send him a few reminder emails as he is a very busy chap and just needs some prompting on occasion. I didn't finish my degree. I went straight into a programming job before I completed it and never looked back. Its never been an issue. Most jobs I've applied for didn't trust degrees and required you to sit a test as part of the interview process. I once inquired about this and was told they were sick of hiring people with degrees only to later find they couldn't program. I'm not from the U.K. however; for all I know they take degrees more seriously there.

Yes and no. I have a degree from a highly respectable university, but struggled to get a job as a new graduate. This was because a lot of major firms have web forms as the first step of application and my graduating grade was so low, it wasn't listed on the pull down menus... This was despite the fact that a lot of the people that get beyond these web forms would have struggled to get a place at my university... (hey, I'm not bitter, honestly. I've got a perfectly good job now and I'm happy.) Having said that, there is still some tendency for engineering and other "hands on" people to prefer less qualified people. That way they don't talk back and pretend to know things they don't really fully understand... but most importantly can be moulded to the taste of the employer. I don't know how old the OP is, but more and more of the younger population of the UK are entering jobs after university. When put against such candidates, he/she may struggle (especially in big firms where HR officers just tick boxes). The trick is to find small - medium sized companies that are looking for real experience and skill. They will have the time to read through your application documents properly and will be more interested in whether you can do the job. Needles to say... sort out your job before you relocate!!

i am a ASP.Net and C# developer with 5+ years experience from India. i have only my course certificate of Btech (not completed, ie my current qualification is Pre Degree) ,now i am going to relocate to uk. did i possible to get a job there in UK, i also have MCTS certification. please advice me

Under the last government, they'd let anyone in no matter how unskilled, untalented or unwashed, all in the name of building up a clientelle of people who'd be so grateful that they'll forever vote for them. Generally its the same here. Some employers might be different but the majority coming out of uni can't program. For the few programming modules there are, lecturers tend to give out the full code solution anyway so people just copy without understanding it.
