Finally got around to updating to the RedGate version of Reflector. I know it's been out for a while, but I've yet to have a good experience with a RG product, and so I've been holding off... But today, the old version refused to run, and so I updated. The first time I ran it, it installed some sort of add-in in Visual Studio. I don't know what it does. I don't know why I'd want it. I do know that there's a menu option wherein I can enter a serial number, so whatever it is, chances are I won't be able to use it for long anyway... But that's not the point: I didn't want a VS add-in. I didn't need a VS add-in. VS is quite slow and crowded enough already, thankyouverymuch. But, now I have one anyway, whether I like it or not. And so, instead of doing what I set out to do, I'll have to deal with that instead. :sigh:

Does it include an uninstall option? If so, I'd use it.

It was better when it was free. ;P

Way better! I too faced the same problem mentioned by Shog before a few days. Moreover, Red Gate doesn't even provide a checkbox which I can uncheck to avoid the add-in installation! :| And, they have lots of excuses[^] explaining why they are forcing the users to upgrade to the newer versions of Reflector!

Don't laugh, but whenever I run reflector (even the version before RG acquired it) I always unplugged my ethernet cable. It was incredibly disruptive to be working on something, want to see what's going on inside an assembly, and then have my whole work process disrupted by being forced to upgrade before I could continue. ARGH! Marc

You may have installed the paid version (trial). I have the RG version too and it's the free one. And you can (and should) disable the VS add-in since it interferes with normal VS functionality even if it gives us fancy debugging features of its own (like stepping into the reflected BCL code).

Personally, I dislike the forced upgrade. If it's working on my system, and my system hasn't changed, why should I be forced to upgrade to something I don't want/need? Reflector was better before Redgate got hold of it.

Open Reflector, go to Tools-> Integration options, uncheck visual studio. After you close and reopen your visual studio, that menu should be gone.
