Urgent eyeglasses problem...

FYI, I'm pretty sure vinegar is a basic, not acidic.
Vinegar is acetic acid.

The coating on my lenses have worn off in some areas and it is slowly becoming worse and worse. It has come to a point where it is intolerable and everytime they get wet they smell like burnt chemicals. If I could just remove this coating off of my glasses I would be able to see better. I need to be able to do it with in house ingredients, I can't go out and buy anything. I need a serious answer please, I am blind without my glasses.

So stop: a. Sticking your head up your @rse. b. Spying on your sister in the shower. Problem solved.

That just happens with time, I'm not sure there's anything you can do, apart from buy new glasses. Given that you have limited income, surely your national health scheme will supply you with a basic pair of new glasses ? By the time that coating comes off, you should be getting new glasses anyhow, at your age, your eyes stand a good chance of changing with time, so your prescription will have changed.

I use disposable contact lenses. If you have astigmatism as well as being short sighted ( or long sighted, but I'm short sighted ), I found that the lenses that correct for that are not reliable, they would slip in my eye and my vision would blur. I use lenses only to go to concerts, where I'll be packed into a tight crowd. For example, I had my glasses ripped off my head by falling bodies at Rock on the Range, over and over again. The thing to remember is, it IS an ongoing cost. You never stop paying, unlike glasses. They also can not be great for your eyes, my optomitrist recommends using lenses as I use them, not for every day use, and always with glasses as a backup, b/c there are days your eyes just won't take them.

I've worn lenses every day for more years than I can recall and I sleep in them these days for a week at a time and have had no problems of any kind (other than when I have scratched my eye a couple of times) and never have to have days off and, according to my optician, my eyes are in excellent shape. Try Accuvue Oasys lenses, weekly wear: marvelous.

As per my response to CG try weekly wear contact lenses: they are excellent and completely negate the need for wearing glasses (which I hate).
