Its extraordinary how many times I go to parties and its the Scndanavians who are legless. (Having fun, but deffinitely pissed (thats UK pissed not US pissed by the way)). The Frogs and at least the southern British, Dutch, Belgiums and Germans, seem to be able to drink and get drunk without falling over in my experience. (And its not lacking :) )

Dude... Whereas I to some degree that the scandinavian drinking pattern is somewhat ludicris in the sense that you're deemed an alcoholic if you have a beer after work on a wednesday - but it is completely acceptable drinking yourself senseless in the weekend - I have to take issue with your statement. I am Norwegian - but I have lived most my life in other countries spread across Europe. And I have never - NEVER - been privvy to worse drinking habits and patterns than in the UK and - in particular - Ireland. I currently reside in Ireland, where it is a common view nearly every day to see members of both sexes and all age groups vomiting to their hearts content in the streets. It also seems to be a national sport to urinate in the streets. And by that I am not talking about the somewhat timid approach towards it, hiding in a dark corner of an alley - nono, over here half the point of the action is to make as much a spectacle as possible of it. Extra points are awarded if you hit innocent bystanders and/or passing cars. It deserves mention that this activity as well is partaken in by both sexes and all age groups. Man, did that feel good to get off my chest. //L

Notice where I said southern Britain? Anyway, guess where the gene pool of northern Britain comes from... yep, Scandanavia. (Dublin was settled by Danes too by the way)

Have you lived there or spent sufficient time there to see? There is a big difference. To generalise, a Northerners idea of a good night out is to get legless, then either have sex, or get into a fight. The Scots arent much better either. Southerners are not like this. And while you will see this behaviour in places in the south like Torquay, this is due to the vast influx of unemployed northerners who would rather claim benefit on the south coast of Britain rathern in some miserable red brick ex industrialised dump up north! :)

It's supposed to be easy to make your own. The slow way involves (IIRC) 1 liter of vodka, 250g of bacon (cooked), a 2 liter jar with a lid and several weeks of waiting. The fast method is similar but includes 500g of bacon (cooked) and the grease from an additional kg of bacon. You combine the ingredients in the large jar and let it sit to absorb the flavor, and then put it in a freezer to force the grease to congeal for easy separation. FYI I've never done it, but did have a shot of express bacon vodka this spring. It was Baconriffic. :cool:

Damn, I thouhgt there was a risk of that seeing as how the languages are related! :) Anyway, I have it on good authority that it was principly Danish Vikings that setteled the UK. And I am sticking to that. (In fact my surname comes from old scandaniavian for stream aparently. Probably explains why I drink so much! ;))
