I should take one of those "male performance enhancers" just prior to a flight just to make it more interesting for them.

Yeah, that'll be fun for the duration of the 2 minute pat down. Not sure how it will be to sit in a 2-3 hour flight in that condition knowing you don't have much of a chance of relieving yourself.

TSA workers face verbal abuse from travelers[^] From the article:

In Indianapolis, for example, a TSO was punched by a passenger who didn’t like the new screening process

I guess you gotta feel for the TSOs here, I bet most of them are not particularly gladdened at the thought of having to feel up people's genitals all day long.

I have as much sympathy for TSA agents as I have for telemarketers. The incredible invasion of privacy that is the new policy for US air travellers -- in any other context, it could a criminal act of unwanted sexual contact -- is obscene and should be treated as such. The virtual strip searches and fondling of breasts and genitals does absolutely nothing to make us safer. The claim that "I'm just following orders" is not a legally valid excuse. I have a friend who is a survivor of sexual abuse, and she is about to lose her job because she will not go through the new screening process. She is afraid that if she is selected for a molestation pat-down, she will have a flashback and react accordingly. Even if she goes through the metal detectors or the strip-search machine, she can still be subjected to the pat-down on the whim of the TSA agents; it is not an "either/or" situation.

Well, there is a difference. Telemarketers went for a job knowing that their primary task is to call and annoy people all day long. TSOs didn't apply for this job with the knowledge that they'd be doing this sort of thing, or at least any TSOs that joined prior to last month.

It would be funny if the TSA is the reason most people finally realize just how intrusive the U.S. government has become. Maybe people will finally start voting for less instead of for more.

The real fun is if on a long flight it doesn't go away on its own after a few hours. According to my doctor friend there is something in the airplanes medical supplies that should relieve the pressure but it needs to be directly injected at the problem site. *shudder*

Ok, perfect, I was just so happy thinking that I won't be flying to US in a very long time so I could avoid TSO's and now I find that, given some incredible and strange conditions, partner vacations and me delivering before schedule, I'll be onboard by January  You birds of ill omen... Now I'll need to look for silver body paint and shredded tinfoil ;P Oh and the male enhancer that was suggested! This is gonna be fun!

What, a guy can't take anti-performance medication with bathroom sink water?

I would have responded with the exact same line. Why do people always complain it's not a perfect analogy? Of course there's a difference between patting somebody's genitals and gassing men, women and children; nobody claimed they are the same, otherwise we wouldn't be having this conversation. If the two things were identical, there wouldn't be a need for an analogy. Why do they say it's like comparing apples and oranges? Would you rather compare an apple and... another apple?
