Can someone clarify me the difference between "Clever" and "Wise"? Any context with examples is welcome. I assumed that "wise" is generally linked with experience, age and also may be with men. But It seems I was not 100% accurate. So anyone, Please help me :)

You may be born clever but you only become wise with experience. Example - man was 'clever' and so he invented fire. He became 'wise' once he realised it could burn him.

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's too late to stop reading it. My latest tip/trick Visit the Hindi forum here.

Clever is linked to knowledge about a subject matter. Wisdom is linked to thinking a working formula (thought and decision making ) I am clever but my grandmother is wise.

Clever is being able to get oneself out of a sticky situation. Wise is not getting into it in the first place. More specifically, cleverness is an quantitative attribute of knowledge, the more you know, the cleverer you are. Wisdom is a processive attribute, that is to say that you may not know as much, but you can use what you know far more efficiently.

Clever: intelligent and able to learn things quickly In other words, talking in a rude way that is meant to show you are smart. Wise: a wise person is able to make good choices and decisions because they have a lot of experience in their life.

Yeah but the three wise men obviously weren't very wise either. They go to see the king, and when the king asked where they were going, replied "To see the New King". Wuckfits. BTW what did Jesus's mother do with all that gold?

Except that it's the wrong way around. Wisdom is gained from experience (i.e. it is accumulated knowledge), and cleverness is the ability to use available knowledge (i.e. no experience required -- but every little helps, obviously). This is why you can say "a clever young man" without any apology, but to say a young man is wise, you have to add that he is wise "beyond his years". "Wise old man", on the other hand, is an extremely common usage for someone who has seen it all, and "clever old man" is used, more often than not, insultingly, for someone who is old enough to be wise, but who exhibits the foolishness of youth.
