The old analogy "Only the strong survive" comes to mind.

Food Crisis may lead to more insurrection[^] I have been say this for ages, and it could be soon that a few more countries have their citizens get 'uppity' about the price of food. As the article states, one bad harvest could be the trigger.

I am strongly considering purchasing a working ranch as part of my retirement divestments(yes, I meant this word for effect considering my other 'investments')

I hear you brother. But there a way that nature compensates for over population, it is called famine.

Wouldn't worry too much about Romania or Ukraine, afaik (well, I know for sure about RO but not entirely certain about Ukraine) there are millions of acres of high quality land that grow weeds for now or need irrigation systems rebuilt - yes, they've bloody stolen all the pipes. If push comes to shove I'm quite certain it will become profitable to use all that land.

I was thinking the same. The both countries have too little population for their natural resources and in fact their major exports are food. So this analysis is not to be taken seriously.

The whole thing is a complete joke. Egypt is the main food producer in the Middle East, Romania and Ukraine are among the biggest food producers in Europe and Hong Kong is not a country.

The bad harvest in Russia was the cause of bread prices increasing so we are already probably looking at worst case scenario here so dont expect too much more.

Actually no, Romania imports a lot more food than it exports and most of the land that was "communism" cultivated is now barren and unused. Very few people could afford to invest enough to reach western Europe levels of efficiency in agriculture so it's more expensive to buy internally produced food compared to importing.
