I'm looking to hook a light up to a device and then my computer to flash lights based on music playing. Any ideas? Much appreciated.

Unless your PC is and absolute must then you could program an arduino board to do it: http://blog.makezine.com/archive/2009/03/music-controlled-lights-via-arduino.html[^] Another option might be to hack one of these Graphic Equaliser T-Shirt[^]

Author of the Guardians Saga (Sci-Fi/Fantasy novels)yes. What I was thinking of doing was when I was playing music in my office I could have a rope light flashing to the music.

I've wanted to do something like that for a while... Actually was going to tie some voice recognition and TTS software into light controllers, so I could walk into my apartment and say, "Computer, lights" :) Unfortunately, a lot of the hardware seems to be parallel port based (Do computers even come with those anymore?) or DIY, and I'm not much for soldering... Since I'm bored at the moment, here's a couple links I stumbled on... http://groovygamegear.com/webstore/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=239[^] http://computerchristmas.com/christmas/link-how_to[^]

A Dead ringer for Kate Winslett[^]The arduino looks promising, but I was looking for more of a plug and go sort of option. I'm not seeing any of that around so far. It may just be an excuse to be even geekier and build my own. :)

Author of the Guardians Saga (Sci-Fi/Fantasy novels)Thanks. I wasn't really looking to do any DIY either, but it could be pretty cool to try. It may just be a while before it happens.

Well that first link seems to be a pre-built component... I don't know if it's genuine or not, of course.
