I'm somewhat confused as well. In 2009, the safety bonuses were withheld due to 4 worker fatalities, but in 2010, safety bonuses were paid out, even though there was a more than doubling of the fatalities to 9 workers. I think someone is lying or playing with the numbers in order to make some headlines. Especially since some workers are refusing to testify at upcoming hearings. :)

It's a company. Money is its only interest. The employees refusal to testify is testimony to what they're interest is, money. That's not a surprise. The company is protecting itself and these safety bonuses could be construed as payoffs to people to not cooperate. The headline is just to get your attention.
