Yes. It's interesting - until I started listening to Tori Amos, I didn't realise that people could be objectively wrong in their opinions.

I like that line I will be stealing it and giving you no credit. I'm actually listening to something else at the moment so didn't listen to it all but I will try it again tommorow.

Tori is incredibly gifted. The coolest woman (if not human) to get behind a piano in recent times. Ever catch her duets with Trent Reznor (NIN) or Maynard James Keenan (Tool, A Perfect Circle)?

Had never hear of her but she is quite talented. She reminds me of Joni Mitchell for some reason, another very gifted musician and song writer. [Update] After listening to some of her newer stuff she sounds a bit like Sheryll Crow. Thanks for the reference, I really like her music. [/Update]

I can see that now for sure, but not until you pointed it out. Joni is very talented as well!

I've been a fan of hers since around 1993-94. She got a little weird on her later albums (understatement maybe) but there's always something awesome there. I've seen her live only once, but it was honestly one of the best concerts I've ever been to.

And sometimes when you're on, you're really f***ing on And your friends they sing along and they love you But the lows are so extreme that the good seems f***ing cheap And it teases you for weeks in its absence Rilo Kiley - "A Better Son/Daughter"

I think all artists go through a weird period. The talent is there but directed somewhere into the either? Usually it's either religion or drugs or both, at least used to be don't know about now a days.

I got a visual on this one; her half drunk perched on a piano in a revealing dress. Close?

My visual has her half-covered by a negligee kneeling on a bed with her arms open wide.

Oh, she is certainly eccentric in many ways! My father said to me, "Tori Ellen, I can't believe you wrote this song about me." And I said, "I write everything about you - what are you surprised about?" And he said, "No, but, I'm really hurt about this one." And I said, "Well, which one is it?" And he said, "Well, you called me Satan." And I said, "No! I was taking drugs with this South American shaman, and I really did visit the devil, and, um, I had a journey." And he said, "Oh, praise Jesus!" That was introducing Father Lucifer during a live concert. But, I mean, Starling[^], come on! It does things to my brain. :omg: And I was a little suspicious of Midwinter Graces at first - I mean, who's ever heard of a good Christmas/holiday themed album before? But holy crap, it's fantastic!

Maybe you should have listed those in a slightly different order.

Except I openly acknowledge that I'm a massive tool.

Siren[^] The chorus is fierce. Another contender[^]

                                          Oh, what I'd give...
