Really, I have proof that Silverlight is dead: www.the-amazing-calls.com[^] Even a promo site for the Nokia line of Windows Phone 7 devices is made in Flash

Leaving the irony aside, I really like the soundtrack.

Well, I, for one, am currently working on Silverlight apps, and we have no shortage of clients.

Exactly. App is the keyword here. Not media display/distribution.

was it ever even in alive?? I recommend against it and flash at every turn. with html5 and css3 I really don't see the need for either flash or silverlight.

Sorry, to be more precise, the apps I'm working on are just that: media delivery. I'm mostly working on multiplatform media players, and Smooth Streaming players. Maybe I misunderstood your post though

Without trolling, I can find many uses where HTML5 and CSS3 won't fit the bill. One simple example from my day job: DRM-protected video playback. I know DRMs are evil, but they are not going away anytime soon, not any faster than the big copyright holders. For that matter, simply video playback isn't going to be properly supported across browsers for a long while now. Try to pick a format that will play on all browsers without a plugin. So you're back into browser detection/specific content land. I'll take plugins over that.

No, you understood perfectly. I just didn't know what kind of apps you made.
