Its not the down-vote. What bugs me now is I know my answer is wrong but not why.

Actually, you don't know it's wrong. You just know someone downvoted it and that's a completely different thing.

The irony that you say you don't care about downvotes and then complain about them. To be fair, I do the same - it's never nice to receive them, but ultimately they don't matter. It's not as though you can actually buy anything with the points. In Code Project, points don't mean prizes.

As we have seen, platinum membership doesn't necessarily indicate "responsible" membership.

Uhm, downvoted without an apparent reason (maybe the answer was actually correct) by a platinum member. Sherlock Holmes says you are too fast, Mr. Abhinav! :-D

He's not complaining about the points. He's irritated that people downvote his answer without a supporting argument. Happens to me A LOT, like yesterday when I told a guy to search google, and to add the word "breasts" if he wanted more search results returned. I got 1-voted for that with no supporting argument. Pffft!

Any time I post something that pokes at the 'Right Wing', I know I'll get a slew of down-votes. For some, perhaps, gathering points for posts is the goal of the posting. I pretend to myself that "the post's the thing" (excuse me, Billy Shakespeare). It's also an established fact (nay, 'tis a law of nature!) that anyone who downvotes my posts is thereby taking the Troll's Oath and will be damned to GWBasic for all eternity when their Karma ripens.

I see it in a similar way. Points do not really interest me, but when somebody obviously disagrees, then I would at least like to know the reason.

And from the clouds a mighty voice spoke:
"Smile and be happy, for it could come worse!"

And I smiled and was happy
                            And it came worse.

CG once downvoted my answer and provided a 'nice' little reason. Ok it went something like "if you expose a public property in my team I would fire you." I really liked his answer. I have used public properties sparingly ever since. My respect, even with that downvote, grew for him.

CG once downvoted my answer and provided a 'nice' little reason. Ok it went something like "if you expose a public property in my team I would fire you." I really liked his answer. I have used public properties sparingly ever since. My respect, even with that downvote, grew for him.

Shirley it was a a public member variable? And I agree with that sentiment.

No it was not that bad. :) It was a public property that could be used to communicate between two forms. There are other better ways to communicate between forms.

And, in the worst case, I still have connections to people going through air defense training - in Texas. Accidents do happen in training...

And from the clouds a mighty voice spoke:
"Smile and be happy, for it could come worse!"

And I smiled and was happy
                                        And it came worse.

He's not complaining about the points. He's irritated that people downvote his answer without a supporting argument. Happens to me A LOT, like yesterday when I told a guy to search google, and to add the word "breasts" if he wanted more search results returned. I got 1-voted for that with no supporting argument. Pffft!
