... when you send a broadcast e-mail regarding an outage, even though no one is in the office yet, and won't be for another hour. :sigh:

I doubt they give the proverbial rat's ass how early I come in, as long as I continue to be as productive as I am.

NO! Bed checks MUST be performed! If you are not chained to your rower at the same time as everyone else, how can the ship go in a straight line? (Get the feeling I worked for too many asinine companies/managers?)

Would be much better if it was to tell everyone that the email servers are going down in 15 minutes

Hey now, we have to laugh at each other for this kind of stuff... nobody else gets it :)

We can program with only 1's, but if all you've got are zeros, you've got nothing.

Sounds like my local ISP: Its network status page always shows everything is working acceptably as it is not updated when there is a fault because no-one would be able to access the page until the fault is fixed. I also know of a large Data Centre which has an Up Time running into several years (probably decades now) as it excludes scheduled downtimes and unscheduled downtimes from its stats.

Power-mad is part of the sysadmin job description. Isn't this question like asking, "You know you're a lying politician when..."

The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.
