VSee
-
I use Skype a lot to talk/video to relatives and friends even though I don't like the actual application at all. Then my brother couldn't fix his Skype which keeps crashing and switched to VSee[^]. I've never heard of that thing before, but so far I like what I see: very easy to use, lightweight, good usage of network and other resources. The lack of Linux version bothers me a little, because I can't use it on my netbook. Anybody else using VSee?

We're using Skype, FaceTime and WhatsApp to stay in touch: all seem to work okay though Skype is a little clunky. Still, as they are all free I'm quite happy: easy way to stay in touch with people in the old counry.

Had not heard of it before. Is it web based? or does it install a client app? Skype stopped working on my machine (crashes the moment you start a video chat, seems to be the same problem your brotehr faced). Maybe VSee is what I need.

If you have a x64 machine, apparently lots of people have problems - take a look at this skype thread [^]

Thanks for the link. What's odd in my case is that it worked fine for over an year but one day just stopped working. I reinstalled the webcam drievr/software, removed and installed skype, windows updates, everything I could think of. No good though. :sigh:
