Employment chances in Canada for .NET programmer in 2003
-
I applied for the immigration to Canada for a few months ago and I really hope to get the chance to immigrate to this great country. I know that it is pretty difficult for immigrants to find a job in Canada. Maybe you can answer some of my questions and give me a little hope: 1. Without an employment my processing time needs until August 2003. How big will be the chances for a C# (VB.NET) programmer to find employment - don't care in which province or city, even Winterpeg :-)? 2. The German education system is different to the Canadian and I don't have a university degree. I had a 3 year apprenticeship (maybe equivalent to the technical college) to become a computer programmer and I have 6 years experience as a professional computer programmer (knowledge in VB 6, C# & VB.NET (incl. ASP.NET), XML and related technologies, SQL Server, OOP, Design Patterns and UML). Does the degree play a big role in my case? I really thank you for your thoughts. Sorry for my grammer and spelling mistakes, but English isn't my mother tongue. Stephan At the end the man with the most toys wins:cool:

Sorry Chris, I don't want to hurt somebody when I wrote Winterpeg - some of my relatives from Alberta and BC are often in Winnipeg and they told me the stories. I know so many immigrants (e. g. from newsgroups) they come to Canada, buy a house in the city of their choice and hope to find work and this won't work very often. Okay, I really love Vancouver or Victoria or Kelowna, but I have to feed a family so I have to go where I can find a job. When I don't like the area I can move when I am familiar with the language and the Canadian way. Stephan Hoppe

Hi Kant I am not landing in Aug 2003 - the Immigration Office in Berlin will made the decision around Aug 2003. I still try to find an arranged employment to speed up the process. I hope the economy will be better in 2003 and of course I hope that a war isn't necessary and not because I want to come to Canada. Stephan

Kant wrote: Canada economy relies heavily on the USA economy. You are right. Kant wrote: So pray to god that USA won't attack the Iraq and terrorists won't do the same to America. On the other hand pray to god that US will attack Iraq and economy will recover. It seems you have to pray god at least twice. ;)
