I used to use Andy Snap[^] but it hasn't been updated in five and a half years. I've been loomking at Screen Hunter[^] but I have 3 versions to choose from. I'm not averse to paying for a utility if it does what need. In this case I want to be able to change the size and position of a selected area before it is saved to a file. In the case of the Windows Snipping Tool it saves to a file as soon as you stop dragging out the are of screen you have selected. The other good thing Andy Snap did was preselect the exact same area as last time when it was invoked, so if you were snapping through a dialog based process the correct area was already seleced. Anyone have a utility that they use and would recommend to me?

I just use my mouse for that: http://a4tech.com/sproducts.asp?cid=225[^] The driver includes a very handy screen capture tool. I can make screen selections, highlights, draw shapes, add text and save to file or copy to clipboard, all without ever opening any imaging software. The tool is just an overlay on top of the screen, invoked by a dedicated mouse button. Truly a time saver. Recommended if you're willing to get a new mouse just for this. The mouse itself is also great and very good value for money too.

                                    Faststone Capture[^] works fine.

regards Torsten When I'm not working

I use the free version of Fireshot. Works for what I need.

Schenectady? What am I doing in Schenectady?

Not sure how much time you have to waste in your life, but I can't be fucked playing around with MS Paint to crop the screenshot and then save it in whatever format is is capable of supporting. Decent capture software, click a button to invoke, select area, resize if needed, hit enter to save to predfined folder, format and naming convention.
