Good example of how stupid the press are

Wind-Powered Car "A Chinese farmer has invented a wind-powered electric car " Of course it is actually an electric car. That 'turbine' on the front actually produces drag, sucking the life out of the battery and putting perhaps 70% back in, dependent on the efficiency of the generator, blades, air flow etc. Yet the press swallows this up as an wind powered car. What a joke. (Oh, and also shows how dumb chinese farmers are...).
============================== Nothing to say.

... that the press are that stupid. Surely it is more likely that this Chinese Farmer has invented what is, in effect, a perpetual motion machine :)
Sort of a cross between Lawrence of Arabia and Dilbert.[^]

Nice one! For a joke it would be interesting to see how many people not could explain why that design fails - I think it could be quite a few... :sigh:

Although I agree that a lighter and more aerodynamic design would be a lot better, It's not like it doesn't work at all. There's already drag, so he tries to find a way how to use it; as a concept it's not that bad. Btw: He probably never had a college education, no or limited access to the internet and he probably does not know how to read English. Only a real dumbass would call him a dumbass... :rolleyes:

but the article to which you link says "However, critics say that any power generated by the turbine would be outweighed by the energy expended in propelling the vehicle forwards." so they haven't swallowed it up at all?

I thought it was really easy and intuitive to see why it wouldn't work, but I fear you're right.

But it does work, I've seen a working prototype by Wile E Coyote many years ago.
