Wordpress for Family Website

i was thinking of creating a unique downloadable and extensable website for creating family website, something like wordpress but more focused on families. like with family tree, photo album, video, contacts and news, what typically a family website has. Som ething like a private facebook A completely Free, downloadable and extensible model. What do you guys think ? Is it worth taking the effort ? What other suggestion you will give me ?

Better yet, get an idea for the "Super Wheel" and share said idea with an unethical smart person(s) as they will certainly steal it and impliment it. Make sure you document the 'sharing' of said idea. Once they have implimented and claimed all 'rights' to the invention of the "Super Wheel", claim they stole it and sue for billions. This will save you lots of time and headaches. Also, your image and consious are then clean ;P

Why not; but don't forget to look for investor/financing, because it can be a huge endeavor; both in time/scope and hardware (even at the beginning). Create a good working prototype; write a business plan and go fishing for financing. Or if you are lucky and your prototype works, then word of mouth might get things going (like all the successful web things out there). M.

WP plugin is for Wordpress, i am thinking a platform dedicated for family website and may be in future you will be able to create plugin for that platform.

You think some financer would be interested to finance such an idea ? do you think the idea has the potential tp pursue till prototype stage ?

basically like wordpress is meant for blogging, so if i create from scratch i can make sure the features of a family website are the main components. For Wordpress it was blogging and was initially targeted to bloggers.
