I was looking up a racial slang for the british,

Doesnt exist really. Either we are thick skinned or the insults are just feeble. Take Limey. Yeah, so we ate limes, in order to stop our teeth falling out and getting scurvy. If you didnt, then having a face like a lepper is aa way worse deal. 'Rosbif', the famous french (cough) insult. An insult? To be named after one of the worlds greatest pieces of roast meat, form one of the planets biggest animals? How the fuck is that an insult? Hey, pile it on, just dont forget the horseradish sauce and yorkshire puds! I'll take that kind of insult all day! 'Pommy'. What is that? A french apple? Yeah, OK, that stung.... The thing is, you cant insult a race that conquered the world. Whose empire was the biggest ever. A nation whose sense of humour, and ability to take the piss out of themselves is second to none. Cant be done. So really there arent any. Sorry. :)

It helps a bit to know the origins.

It refers to the british complexion after a day in the sun.

Seriously, would the Aussies use a french word for a fruit as a derogatory for the Brits. POHM = Prisoner of Her Majesty

Nah, it is because lime went better with Rum, and Mint. It is well known the British are mad for mint. Fuck man, we were drinking Mojitos when the rest of the world thought a cocktail was a sexual act!

And that's exactly what it is named after! After all, a cocktail party is where all the cocks and tails gather to well, party, after all the cocktails are drunk and everyone's inhibitions are drowned...

Interesting, because that name has been around before 1914. Besides that, I know only one guy here who would like to be named after a some gun :) Edit: This is what I found: Definition of TOMMY : a British soldier Origin of TOMMY Thomas Atkins, name used as model in official army forms First Known Use: 1884

Well, the British generally go the colour of cooked lobster after a day in the sun! :) AFAIK Rosbif refers to our national dish, in the way we call the French frogs. Partly because they look like them but because they have a predilection for eating the things.

I was looking up a racial slang for the british, mainly to respond to the soccer thread, and I didn't find any. I found these two that are funny: Americans[^] Database[^] What should we call the british for ribbing? I think we have aussies here to, so what should I call them as well?

That isn't the origin of the rosbif insult, but the modern use. As for POHM (more correctly POHME - Prisoner Of Her Majesty's Exile), that is just one of a great many ideas as to the origin, none of which have much substance. The OED leans towards it being a contraction of pomegranate, although there are several suggestions to where that came from too.
