Virtual PC vs VMWare Workstation

Did anybody had experience with any of these products? Or even tried both? If so, I would like to know your experience about reliability and performance. I am planning to do the following with one of these products: - Have a Linux guest under Windows 2000. - Have different Windows versions under Windows 2000, for testing installations, multi-versions support, ...etc. Regards, Victor. phpWebNotes is a page annotation system modelled after php.net. http://webnotes.sourceforge.net/demo.php[^]

I've used VMWare, and it works nicely under both of the situations you describe. I have seen a few issues with Win95 in VMWare on multi-processor Pentium4 boxes, but i've never seen Win95 running on these boxes stand-alone, so it may just be an issue with Win95. Otherwise, i would have no reservations recommending VMWare to you.

I too would recommend VMware, I use it for all sorts of things. The only Win 95 problem I've ever seen is that it gets confused on startup when the machine is too fast (particularly an AMD problem, if I remember correctly), there is a bug fix on MSDN for that one but I'm too tired to find it right now. I use VMWare under Win2K for testing Win98, WinNT, and programming in linux it is awesome! I had also read a review that compared VMWare, Bochs, and Virtual PC, with VMWare ultimately getting the reviewers thumbs up. ¡El diablo está en mis pantalones! ¡Mire, mire!
