Well, yeah, and it seems to me that the best place to get such training is in the military.

Well, back then, everyone had a rifle and learned how to use it (if not for defense, then for survival). Concealment, stalking, evasion, and adaptability - skills equally necessary to hunt game for food.

Actually, if I was trolling, I would just post something and let the vultures feed on it without further participation. Your response simply illustrates your apparent inability to present a compelling argument that contradicts my statement. I'll reply with something equally relevant and thought-provoking: My dad can beat up your dad.

No, I didn't admit to being a prat (whatever the hell that is). I merely expect people to say what they mean instead of sugar-coating it at the behest of the collective. And if people are going to stoop to playground behavior by calling me names, I expect them to put some effort into it. Norm called me a "dick", which lacks a creativity and pizazz. Pete calling me an asshole is - well, let's be practical - pointless (and lacks just as much creativity as Norm's proclamation that I'm a dick). What I find interesting is that people are acting as if I'm happy that two cops were killed, simply because I omitted what I thought was the BLINDINGLY F*KING OBVIOUS idea that it's a shame that they were sacrificed in the name of imagined security. If the individuals here want to go ahead and think that 1-voting me and name calling are somehow a viable defense of their imitation utopia, or that their actions have a snowball's chance in hell of changing my view of the world, more power to 'em (but honestly, they're wasting their time). And on a related note, I don't know who decided that the word "elephant" is a viable replacement for "f*ck", but y'all (the people that use it) really need to cowboy-up and say what you really want to say. In the case of "elephant", even "frak" (from Battlestar Galactica) is a better replacement, because everybody knows that's a thinly veiled version of the intended word.

Here[^] I think he was referring to definition #2. Although none of those definitions actually describe you. You are more... Complex than that. (And please don't kill the messenger!)

How is that "All Citizens Carry Guns And We Have One Of The Worlds Highest Murder Rates" working out for y'all? I am ex-military and have used weapons, and believe me I would not want our police carrying them. In fact gun crime here is so rare as to be abnormal.

I am a Brit who now lives in the USA. In Britain, despite having been wounded in knife attacks on two separate occasions, I always felt relatively safe from murderous criminals. After some time with the military and unarmed (and armed) combat training I felt fairly confident in defending myself in most situations in the UK. However, I have never felt very safe in the US and even though I now own a gun (technically it is my (American) wife's weapon) I am still very careful of where and how I go and have once had to dive for cover during a nearby shooting incident! Despite the gun my wife was seriously beaten up by an armed man who broke into the house while I was out at work. Having personal firearms does not make you any inherently safer, if anything it increases the chance of getting shot. I can hardly wait to take my wife and son to the UK to live in more safety and get that huge feeling of relief and commensurate reduction in stress levels. I like America, but it could be so much better if... (too long a list to put here, but better restrictions on gun fanatics would be near the top of the list).

I honestly appreciate the sentiment, but... I no longer vote on stuff, answer questions, nor post articles. I haven't even run Reputationator since December. I also don't post messages because I think people will like it. I post what I want, and with over 9 "million" users, what I post is bound to offend someone's sensitivities (mostly foreigners). If the thought zombies here want to vote, they should, by all means, take their hands off their dicks long enough to click their mouse - whatever blows up their skirt. I'm not a supporter of the touchy-feely new world order, and I refuse to let my individuality, freedom of thought, or natural rights be absorbed and diffused by the collective. In short, screw 'em. :)
