GIF. That is supposed to be prounounced like "I'll be there in a jiffy." However, everybody I have ever known has pronounced it like "I bought you a gift." I either actively choose to pronounce it wrong, or make a point to pronounce it both ways with a small explanation about the correct pronunciation. Are there any words you can't stand to pronounce correctly?

If there is one thing more dangerous than getting between a bear and her cubs it's getting between my wife and her chocolate.

There are tonnes of place names that sound wrong when pronounced right. Like Altrincham where the "cham" bit is pronounced like the "gham" in Birmingham (the one in the UK, that is!). Or Sirencester which is pronounced Sirenster. I had a classmate who wanted to go to University of Derby and was very confused when she received correspondence from the University. She thought Derby was spelled Darby. I get confused with the use of "arch". Archangel is pronounced Ark Angel. How about archrival? Or archchancellor?

Almost, but not quite, entirely unlike... me...

I've always called it 'jif' Have for years before most people even knew what it was.

Then it should have been "jif" not "gif".
