Well, I rip complete images to preserve all the extras. I could do it in less space if I ripped to avi, but I haven't really found a good program to do that, I find that the movie loses too much qualitywise... And it normally takes a hell of a long time to rip that way because you need to recoded the whole shebang. AND I also need to handle the whole subtitle aspect, which makes ripping a movie to avi a tedious process... :sigh:

Lily Tomlin, ActressHave you looked at Handbrake[^] - it's open source, and takes about 1/2 hour per DVD for me (on a not-state-of-the-art PC). Don't know how well it handles subtitles (I'm more concerned with making sure I never see them, as I have to read them and it distracts me from the film).
