Help "temporarily unavailable"
-
Whenever I try to open help via the F1 key for the first time after starting VS.NET, VS.NET screws around on my hard disk for 1-2 mins, then displays the following HTML: Action canceled Internet Explorer was unable to link to the Web page you requested. The page might be temporarily unavailable. If I immediately request help again on the same topic, the help page will come up instantly. Then subsequent requests for other help come up quickly. It's always the first help request after starting up VS.NET. My IDE is version is 7.0.9466. I'm using a P4-1.8Ghz with 60Gb HD running XP/Pro. Is there some secret tweak I'm supposed to do? Or is it just one of those things I have to live with? thanks Andrew

I get that exact same thing on my system at home (P3 600Mhz), but I never get it at work (P4 2Ghz). I just assumed it's a timeout condition trying to load help that first time. Because like you said, if you just hit the F1 again, it works and continues working until you shutdown the IDE and relaunch it. Drives me nuts though. Ron Ward
