Its hard to fight a company with bottomless pockets, especially if they take all of your talent.

I remember Microsoft C_6_...I wasn't daft enough to use it. At that point in time, Turbo Pascal and Zortech C++ (remember them?) kicked it well across the playground. You've got to give Microsoft credit for one thing. When they have a vision, they really pursue it. Most companies haven't got anything like their "staying power" in that regard. I'm sorry, but I really don't see anything wrong with hiring people away from a competitor. Employees are people with free will that can make their own decisions about where to work. They are not the property of their employer. Anders in particular has had the opportunity to do something he may not have ever been able to do at Borland, develop his own language from scratch. -- Where are we going? And why am I in this handbasket?

Can't wait to see and use their .NET IDE - VS.NET sucks big time...... And Borland is very healthy, very profitable - good things will be coming from Scotts Valley! Marc (the Swiss one) :-)

According to finance.yahoo.com, at last count, 1158 - mind you, that's not counting the newly acquired folks from BoldSoft, TogetherSoft, and Starbase Corp. Borland is doing very well, has been profitable for the past several quarters, has lots of cash in the bank - it's a very healthy, and very capable company. I for one am looking forward to Delphi for .NET and the Borland IDE for .NET - BIG TIME! Marc (the Swiss one)
