Why hate windows 8

by removing traditional desktop, or making it a lot less accessible, m$ is basically telling us work is bad, we really should consider abandon keyboard/mouse (and our jobs as well, probably linux as well i dont see why command prompt is any less evil than keyboard/mouse) - and let the operating system take over the dirty work. Human being should just sit back and chill (ask the Saudi prince, only poor people work) - just as what they promised back in the 1970's? That computer is to alleviate human being from having to work right?

I remember complaining back in the day about moving from command line to Windows 95 and how much less productive I would be. A similar UI shift happened with Windows 8. I don't like Windows 8, but it is what came with my new work laptop. Rather than throw a fit, I went with the flow. There are things I don't like about it, but I've learned to work with it. After a week, I was fully productive again. Hogan

I'll believe you when: 1 - The Industrial States get back their fair share of taxes instead of subsidizing the rural states (see Moocher States). 2 - Farmers stop depending on socialist programs like government price supports and subsidies. There's nothing essentially wrong with operating systems that hide everything from the user, and only allow him a reduced control set -- examples are everywhere, from fruit machines to TVs to microwave ovens -- but the UI of a computer computer, the type that people use to work/code/make a living, needs to look and feel like a computer, and have a very large control set.

I was completely on the other side of the fence. I greeted Win 3 and later Win 95 with utter joy. Win 'ate is a number of abstractions too far, though.
