How to test an Andriod application with php web services.

hi, I am a php developer. I was given a task of testing a small size android application developed by an android developer. I have written php web services for it to store data in mysql. The application is crashing some times and for some inputs. I don't know, how to test it properly? What techniques i should use to test an andriod app?
